New MacBook Air, MAC OS-X, installed Fusion patched up to 1.1. I then loaded a canned version of Ubuntu 64-bit. When I go into the Fusion Application and attempt to start the VM, the VM player flashes on the screen for a quick second and then leaves. I then take a look at running processes from OS-X to see if there's anything running that would lead me to believe that VM started and is running somewhere but there is nothing running. So I then go and navigate to the dir where Ubuntu is located and I notice that a vmx.lck directory with an 'M56360.lck' file in it. The directory and fie are created at the exact time I attempt to start the VM. Os I then delete the lck dir and lck file and reattempt to start and I get the same result. I then chmodd 777'd anything in the Ubuntu dir thinking it may be a permissions thing and still same result. I have validated that Fusion is licensed correctly and read the newbee doc for folks like me, this is my first experience with both an Apple PC an Fusion. I am familiar with ESX and UNIX. Anyone that can point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it.

From the information posted in this Forum since the MacBook Air became available it is safe to say that there is an issue, and by now be considered a known issue, with the MacBook Air and the External CD/DVD Drive in that if the Drive is not present then one must either set the Virtual Machine's CD/DVD to Disabled, or to and ISO Image or remove the CD/DVD form the Virtual Machine's Settings sheet and in doing so the Virtual Machine should be able to start without crashing!
