Hang on loading block driver?

I just received the Adaptec 2610SA and installed it on a white box. Popped in the ESX 3.5 installation CD and it froze on loading block driver: loading aacraid_esx35 driver. What should I do? Thanks

Got it working. I moved the card from a PCIX slot to a regular PCI slot.  Installed ESX 3.5 without any problem.  Everything looks okay now.

Hi,

 

 

Did you ever, at any time, receive an error during install that stated "no drives available" (something like that)?  I am using the Adaptec 2610SA in a PCI (not PCI-X) slot on an ASUS mobo.  Can you tell me what firmware version you have on your adaptec card?

Couple questions, as I'm planning to set up a similar machine:

1) Are you taking a performance hit by running the card in a PCI slot vs PCI-X?

2) Can you tell us what type of RAID you have set up on the Adaptec card, and with how many drives?

3) Can you describe any steps you might have had to take during the ESX installation to make the card work?
