Does anyone know if VMWare are thinking of have release a VI Client for a Linux OS - I'm really trying to get away from using a Windows on my laptop and it would be great if I could use the VI Client on my OpenSUSE build....

Hi all VMWare & Linux OS lovers.... I had a glimer of hope today for the VI Client running on an Linux OS Platform....

As I was reading this thread of all the people who would love to have VI Client running on Linux something occured to me, I use an app under Linux that allows you to install MS apps into Linux using Wine....

So far I run MS Office 2003, Lotus Notes, Internet Explorer 6 and a remote admin program called remote administrator

The application I use is called Cross Over Office by Codeweavers....

I tried installing the VI client and came up with some dependancys of the Windows Installer 2.0 which I installed OK, then it wanted .net framework so I installed that....

Came to installing the VI client but came up with some errors with regsvr32.exe - I'm going to try installing it again on a test Linux box which I'm gonna run on VMWare Server :D

I thought if I tell people of my path - they could help out and try some stuff themselves.... If I get any further I will let you know..

Regards

Dave

As Virtual Center also has to be a windows server it's possible either to rdp to the VC Server and run from the remote session. Another option is to use SeamlessRDP so it will appear as if it is running locally.

Thanks for the link to seamlessrdp....

Ive got it working but I got one query....

When I log out of the VI Client it leaves my terminal services session running... how is it possible to end the TS session as well?

Regards

Dave

You can set the RDP connection settings in Terminal Services Configuration on the server to end disconnected sessions after a certain time period.
