As far as braindumps and practice exams, the best advice I can give is to have LOTS of hands on experience with the product. I've been a VCP since 2004, so I've taken the old test and the new test to keep my certification and the only reason I passed was because I was using it.
So far VMware has done pretty good at keeping the certification from being just a piece of paper, and I hope it stays that way.
If you don't have access to "real" VI3 infrastructure to practice with then head on over to xtravirt.com , get a pretty good desktop or laptop with VT technology in the CPU and install ESX and VC on it using their whitepapers. It won't run a lot of guests, but it's not bad for doing some practice and getting that hands on experience.
