Hi again.

I would like to delete one virtual machine from my HD. So I just drag and drop it to my trash and that's it? It releases all the gigabytes it held within?

Yes, it's that easy so long as you have not moved your virtual hard disk to a different location.

sarimoo: Drag it to the trash from the Finder, but yeah. I suggest A Beginner's Guide to VMware Fusion, which covers this.

Richard: Hey, good to see you back! We missed you, where've you been? :)

Eric - I had my MacBook Pro stolen a while back so I've been making do. I have a new Santa Rosa MBP now so I should be able to contribute again.

Welcome back, rcardona! I'm so sorry to hear about your laptop being stolen.

Let us know if there are any Fusion questions with your new laptop!

I just tried to delete a VM by Move To Trash in Finder, per the above instruction. I didn't see anything about deleting a VM in the New User Guide, unless I missed it (possible). Now when I start Fusion (2.0 BTW), the list shows the VM with a '?' and a File Not Found error. See attached WM window screen grab.

Is there another place an entry should be removed to delete a VM?

Thanks.

This is expected - Fusion can't tell if the virtual machine was located on some removable media (and thus might be back at a later point) or if you deleted it. Select the entry in the Virtual Machine Library and press delete to tell Fusion to forget about it.

By popular request, in Fusion 2.0 you can shortcut this. Instead of deleting the virtual machine in the Finder and telling Fusion to forget about it, you can skip the first step and go directly to the second. If Fusion can still find the file, it will ask if you want to delete the virtual machine from the disk or just have Fusion forget about it.
