Hallo,

I have problems on a vm running xp. I got a blue screen during XP loading, at the beginning and I am unable to read the error message because it will immediately reboot and do the same again.

I have tryed to use OS X to get screen image but the vm window is always black.

Is there any way to take a picture of vm screen out of windows desktop or any other way to pause the vm to read what is wrote before it reboots?

(I am using the tryout version of fusion 1 on OS X 10.4 intel)

Thanks

Hello!

You can do like in any other mac app :

Apple-Shift-4 and select the area you want to capture.

Enjoy!

Or Apple-Shift-3 does the whole screen (or both if you have dual monitors)

I don't know about your screen shot problem, but you can probably boot into windows safe mode and change the behavior to not reboot on a major system error.

Never had a problem with grab getting screenshots with a vm open.

When your guest powers on, click inside the window to set focus, and hit the F8 key after the BIOS POST to bring up the Windows boot menu. One of the options should be "Disable automatic restart". Then, let it reboot and when it reaches the BSOD error, it should just sit there and wait.

Thank you for the replies,

I have tried OS X keys combinations to get screen image but the vm windows was alsways "black", so it is not a solution.

About the F8 I could try, but I was having troubles with F/ F5 keys to work properly in the vm. May be that the logitech control center is the reason of this fault: I have just noticed that with logitec cc I also have Alt and Start keys not correctly working.
May be I have to look in fusion vm setting if it is possible to remap some keys. I have a windows/os x keyboard (cordless mx700 desktop).

thanks

Ahh, you have one of those new-fangled keyboards. First you must turn OFF the F-Lock before the function keys will work. So power the guest on, click in the window, hit the F-Lock key, THEN hit the F8 key.

A couple tricks with screenshots.

When you do this the mouse turns into a circle-cross-hair. Cancel out of this without getting a screenshot by
single clicking.

Also, if you hit these keys and get the crosshair, you can hit the spacebar and the icon turns into a camera that lets you capture a window.

Do you have 3D acceleration enabled? If so, try turning it off.

There's also a GUI application included with OS X that makes screenshots very easy and is called, appropriately, "Grab."

You can find Grab in the Utilities folder or by using Spotlight.
