How do I enable the CD Auto-Run again on the host machine (windows Vista Home Premium)?
I checked the registry on the host machine and it's already set to 1 for the statement below:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom and change AutoRun value to 1
Do I have took somewhere else?
Please advise.
Thanks.

Kevin, I applied the two fixes recomended and it did not resolve the issue. Here's the deal. On 8/9/08 I installed the VMWare Server for an x64 system. During the nstall, I was prompted to permit the install to disable 'Autorun' because it posed a problem for the virtual machines. I followed the instructions and disabled it. After going through the entire install process, I found that the x64 beta simply did not work. I uninstalled the VMware Server. After the uninstall, I learned that the Autoplay did not work. To date, the only way I can restore it is to reinstall my OS. This is absolutely unacceptable as I must then reinstall ALL of my application software, drivers, etc!
I need to know exactly what registry keys were modified by the install, the original and modified values so I can restore my registry to the pre-install state. I have spoken with Julie K. and Rahul (I was on the phone with him when you and he discussed this issue) concerning this matter. Please advise them of this ongoing issue as I am sure I am not the only person experiencing this problem. It would be most appreciated if VMware would write a small routine to fix this problem as the VMServer product caused it. Thanks in advance. M. Ward.
Kevin, I have resolved the AutoPlay problem on the Vista platform. The fix involves keys other than those mentioned in this string of posts. I won't provide the fix here as it is complex and depends upon the specific Windows platform, i.e., XP, 2000, Server 2003, etc. I have provided the details of the fix to Rahul and believe the corrections should be posted by VMware employees rather than myself. For the 'brave of heart" I have attached the Microsoft articles which address this issue. I strongly suggest that anyone attempting a fix using the articles backup their registry or take a checkpoint prior to making any modifications.
Again, I believe VMware should make a small fix routine available for download by those who evaluated VMware Server and had the AutoPlay function killed.
