Keyboard repeat rate problem

Hi there,

I'm using WS 6.0 45731 and eversince I've stepped up to 6 I'm having trouble with my keyboard repeat rate in VMs.

I have this problem in both Win95 and XP so I think that this issue is not related to the OS in the VM.

When I start the VM and e.g. try to enter my password into the login box the keyboard repeat rate acts like crazy. I tap a key and OS gets 5 or up to 10 keystrokes. So I always wait a few minutes after starting a VM before using it. After some time the keyboard rate gets back to normal and I can start working.

That bugs me.

So does anybody else have this problem ? Or does anybody know a cure ?

Thx for your help, Tim

Are you using a computer with CPU frequency-adjusting technology enabled (SpeedStep/Cool-n-Quiet/etc.)? If so, disable it. Changing host CPU frequency and virtualization technologies do not mix well.

Thanks for the tip Robert.

I haven't had any Cool and Quiet Windows driver for my AMD X2 installed but I had Cool and Quiet turned on in BIOS.

I did not change any BIOS settings but I've installed RightMark CPU Clock utility.

When I set it to max performance and start my VM then the keyboard repeat problem isn't there. It even works with the permormance on demand profile where the CPU frequency and voltage constantly chance depending on the CPU load.

Very strange but it has solved the problem.

Thanks for your help.
