I have been researching how to shutdown our VMWARE Servers running ESX 3.X. I have search Liebert's Multilink software and site for any clues, but have found nothing. Liebert is one of the largest UPS providers out there. I tried contacting their tech support (they don't know what VMWARE is).

I would like for the VMWARE servers to shutdown the virtual servers running or suspending them, then shut itself down in a power failure. Pretty simple hey? Any suggestions? I will buy the upgrade if I need to.

We have exactly the same problem with Riello UPS, they cliam theve never heard of VMware..?

Steve has a procedure that works for APC..

Do you have any hardware vendor agent like HP System Insight Agent installed in ESX COS? Is the Liebert software capable of sending SNMP commands for designated events? Then you could use the SNMP r/w community of the agent to send a shutdown command.
