Hi all,

Using VMWare workstation with XP Pro (SP2)
I'm using a Philips screen with 1680 x 1050 resolution.
When running a VM I'd like to set the desktop properties to
this resolution when working in full screen mode.
However, the VMWare SVGA monitor does not support this
(Desktop | Properties | Settings | Screen resolution)
The closest I get is 1400 x 1050, but that leaves a 280 pixels
unused.

I tried auto fit window and auto fit guest, in Quick Switch full
screen mode. But that gives me 1680 x 1026 instead if
1680 x 1050 pixels.

Any idea how to use the full screen size?

Thanks in advance,

Add the following lines to your vmx file...
svga.maxWidth = "1680"
svga.maxHeight = "1050"
You may need to follow the steps in knowledgebase article 1003 to manually add video modes to the Windows guest if this is not enough.

Out of curiousity and being a noob here I too have a wide-screen monitor with the 1680 x 1050 settings and when browsing on the internet get the 'run over text'. By that I mean the words are on top of each other making it impossible to read. Not all sites are like this when I visit them but most are. How can I correct this? Its driving me bonkers!

Thank you!
