Subject says it all. Tells me basically that I have to run a utility to confirm if I even have VT/64EMT (which it does confirm is OK) and then to change a setting in my BIOS when I boot from the XP64 CD (which I don't see an option for).

Any idea what's going on?

Did you go into the BIOS settings for your Dell computer and enable the VT

And, once you've enabled VT in your BIOS, have you done a COLD boot?

That OS should be okay. Did you try to install another 64-bit guest OS already as a test? I have no further ideas but would double-check the processor bios settings on the real machine and on the virtual machine. Maybe some of the fancy media hardware staff installed on your machine does not allow the processor to run in 64 bit mode. Does Dell sell this machine with WinXP64 preinstalled too - this would mean that the hardware is certified for XP64.

Hi,

which exact error message do you receive when trying to create an XP 64bit VM? Doesn't it recognize the HDs?

In addition to Peter's suggestion to upgrade your BIOS... After enabling VT in the BIOS, you need to power off (cold boot) your PC before those changes really take effect.
