From a console of each vm, issue the following command from option 8 (shell):

cvs_sync.sh releng_1

Sit back a few moments and this will update both virtual machines to the latest version.

In addition, you can download a full update from pfSense.com to bring these machines up to a newer version. Beta 4 is quite dated now.
