Fedora FC5 host, WinXP guest - all latest updates
Yesterday, yum update, triggered new kernel update from 2.6.16 to 2.6.17. With 2.6.16, VMware was working fine. After the kernel update completed, and vmware was re-configured, it seems I got a couple problems with VMware - most everything else seems fine.
1) after starting up WinXP guest, and login, the Windows clock is running very slow. This seems to have been reported elsewhere, and I've made changes recommended by http://www.vmware.com/support/kb/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1591 but it didn't help much. Now the guest clock runs about 16 times slower than the host.
2) network operations for the guest are fine, so long as, I never try to connect to the host. When connecting to the host, any file copy or web download (my server sits on host) takes forever. Before inserting the clock fix specified above, even trying to view files on the host using explorer causes explorer to hang indefinitely. Now, with the clock fix, it doesn't hang, but takes long time.
Any idea about the network speed?
I haven't tried going back to kernel 2.6.16, and I will do that when I get a chance - not easy.
