This is TOO big a download. also reading the description, you should have made jboss start up automatically by creating a service, rather than have the user need to su to start it. would simplify things.

We built it to use and didn't put it together for the competition. The USB capability lets you move your workspace from home to work and back if needed, or to another developers workstation. It worked so well in our shop we decided to enter it in the competition.

It is big but nice. I like it. it saves you the hassle of dealing with installing all of these various j2ee packages. Good work.

Yes, it is TOO large to download unless you have an extremely good Internet connection. We have Verizon "fiber to the home" connection in our area so it can be transmitted. We will work on getting it on a DVD or trying removing all the extras that come with Debian. We really hadn't planned to enter it in the competition that was a last minute decision (hence the large size). We entered it simply because it worked so well for us. I am an outsourced mainframe technician and this little package was an absolute blessing.

This seems very promising, is this JBoss 4.0.4.GA? which profile, the default or the ejb3? Also it would be nice if it came with postgresql, eclipse 3.2, netbeans 5.0 or 5.5, and the Glassfish AS.

Hi,

i'm having problems using the downloaded torrent image. testing the downloaded file gives

unzip -t Client\ First\ Technologies\
JBoss\ Development\ VM.zip
Archive: Client First Technologies JBoss Development VM.zip
error [Client First Technologies JBoss Development VM.zip]: missing 71396
bytes in zipfile
(attempting to process anyway)
error [Client First Technologies JBoss Development VM.zip]: attempt to
seek before beginning of zipfile
(please check that you have transferred or created the zipfile in the
appropriate BINARY mode and that you have compiled UnZip properly)
(attempting to re-compensate)
testing: JBoss Development/Other Linux-000003-cl2.vmdk
error: invalid compressed data to inflate
file #2: bad zipfile offset (lseek): 2071158784
file #3: bad zipfile offset (local header sig): 2071161574
(attempting to re-compensate)
testing: JBoss Development/otherlinux.vmsd OK
testing: JBoss Development/otherlinux.vmx OK
testing: JBoss Development/otherlinux.vmx.lck OK
testing: JBoss Development/vmware.log OK
testing: JBoss Development/ OK
At least one error was detected in Client First Technologies JBoss
Development VM.zip.

any ideas ?

I am getting an error when unzipping as well. Tried a couple times same thing. The error reads "missing 71396 bytes in zipfile "
I am very interested in this appliance!

I downloaded this one twice using BitComet, tried to unpack it using 7-zip, powerarchiver (two versions, including the latest) and WinZip (latest) on 3 different systems, all running Windows XP.
8 other appliances unpacked and work well.
What software is used to pack this zip file, on what platform ?

I'm stuck, any suggestions please ?

I used winzip on Winodws XP. I zipped the entire VM directory.

I will try to put together some variations on the zip file and try to make it available. I am sure I can come up with something to get past the problems. At this point I am not really concerned with the challenge.
