The link www.vmware.com/software/dosidle210.zip to download the dosidle.exe program appears to be broken. Does anyone know where I can download this program?
The following d/l link worked fine for me:
Well I'm not sure what is going on. I get a page not found page when I follow my original link and yours...
I don't know what to tell you. The link is working fine for me.
You're welcome to try the version I just downloaded and put it on a web server for you to try.
Well, Thanks for the download!! Now when I try running this dosidle program from a barts network boot disk I get the error: "You started your computer with a version of MS-DOS incompatible with this version fo Windows." bla bla bla. Any ideas?
Sorry, I don't know what that's all about. I haven't used DOSIDLE.
Sounds vaguely familiar with the issue of running an MS-DOS utility while a different version of the MS-DOS command interpreter is loaded (ie what version of DOS you booted from). The workaround for this was to load a device driver in CONFIG.SYS (or was it AUTOEXEC.BAT?) called SETVER which would somehow set up a version table that allowed newer and older versions of MS-DOS utilities to be compatible with that of the version of COMMAND.COM currently in memory that the machine was booted with.
I could be WAAAAAAY off on this one though.
