Created by Qui Hong (The Developer), Chris Huss and Mike Laverick (Value-Add and Documentation)

Ultimate-P2V is a BartPE free plug-in that allows you to clone a physical machine to virtual machine - and perform the neccessary “system reconfiguration” required to make it bootable. Without this tool or a commerical P2V tool the virtual machine would just give a “blue screen of death”. It has been tested with Symantec Ghost 8 in mind, but it should be configurable with other cloning software and BartPE Plug-ins

Also included are plug-ins for

LSILogic Drivers
VMware Tools
VMware SVGA Drivers
Downloads for popular network and storage drivers for physical machine

For more details and downloads click here

Ultimate-P2V

Kind Regards

Mike
if you don't want unnecessary complaints you should change your howto.
Useing pebuilder from C:\program files\... means asking for trouble - don't use any spaces in the path for pebuilder.

Cyberviks plugin is not needed: extract the vmscsi-floppy to a directory and put it in drivers. That's all

The screenshots on your site show a disabled RPCSS - plugin in close relation to the usage of XP-sp2 as source - this will prevent diskmanagement to work among other things.
For faster boot-up you should consider to use Sherpyas infcachebuilder.
Have you thought about useing the driverpack from the UBCD4Win?
Why does the P2V-plugin not look at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Select first?
To avoid slow operation the first thing to do is to enable the PEloader-plugin - you should consider to mention this. (don't use PEshell with 3.1.3 - its broken)
The ramdrive from 3.1.3 is crap - the one from 3.0.32 is better ...
By the way - why don't you use 2k3-sp1? - or at least mention the advantages of the new setupldr.bin and the ramdisk.sys ...

Ultimate ?

Mike
when I first noticed your project - http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?threadID=29206&tstart=0
I offered to add the results of two years work to your project.
I offered to rework every thing so that it fits your need.

I was really looking forward to see you guys use things like my ide2scsi - reconfiguration patch or the option to run ad hoc tests "will this box run in a VM?" with the Workstation-plugins.
But you did not even react.

Mike - we could be miles ahead now ... why don't we work on an automatic system that generates your static patches at boot-up dynamically so that we can do real X2Y instead of P2V or V2P ???

Now instead of flying to the moon we meet at a stage where you run into typical beginners problems with BartPE ...
Mike - that is frustrating ... why don't you guys listen?

. . .

Ok - that was that
Let's get into work ...
Have a look here http://sanbarrow.com/vdk4bart/x2y-gui.png
I was working on this about a year ago - maybe you can use it ...

hi uli,

your comment sounds rather negative.
did i just misunderstand or do you just feel a little bit bad because someone probably entered "continuum terrain" or making competition to you?

i didn`t try mike`s work yet, but it seems to be great.

regards
roland

Sounds like some serious communications problems.

Why not put it all behind us and just get together now.

You both have some great information to share with the community and I have use both of your sites in the past.

Yikes is an expression of surprise and/or disbelief.

If I saw an automobile accident happen in front of me on the highway I might look over to my wife and say "Yikes - did you see that?"

I am sorry - I am done with this.

I just thought I was witnessing some hostility in this thread!

I am done - I may have just misread or misunderstood!
