I use Windows XPsp2 as my host and guest OS. I've noticed that the USB ports will only function if Player is run by an administrator. If anyone other than an administrator runs player, and attempts to use a USB device the usb device will malfunction and Windows will report the following error:"USB device not Recognized" "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it". I've used WS 5.0 and 5.5 to build the VM player with the same result. The USB will function perfectly within Workstation. After I move the VM to another machine with Player, the USB will not function unless it is being run by an administrator.
Is their a fix for this problem?

Looks like you may have answered your own question. Have you played around with "power user" functionality?

This is correct. It is a known, reported, and reproduceable bug. See other threads in this forum and the workstation forum http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?threadID=27614&tstart=150. I will assume that it is being worked on.
