Installation VMwareplayer impossible

Hello everyone,

I uninstalled vmwareplayer some days ago. Last week, I tried to install vmwareplayer 5.0.2 but the installation failed with this message:

"The MSI C:\users\A\Appdata\local\temp\vmwareplayer_x64.msi failed".

I tried to install an older version of vmware player and workstation but the problem still the same.

I runed as a local administrator and have deleted the %TEMP% directory and CCleaner before each test.

My MSIEXEC version is 5.0.7601.17514

In the vmsetup.20130603204822.log I can see:

"

It looks like the .msi has a problem.

Can someone help me to solve this problem ?

Verify the downloaded installer matches its published MD5/SHA1 checksum and then have a look at: Troubleshooting an MSI error during a VMware product or Tools installation (1031302)

Hello and thank you for your support.

the checksum is correct. I've used the cleaning script and it said it's ok. The sfc command too. I also tried with a new local admin user but the problem still the same.

I can say I didn't use the fix-it tools because Microsoft said it shouldn't be used anymore. My msiexec is in version 5 and not 4.5 but I think it has always been like this before, even when vmware player was installed.

Did you validate the MD5/SHA1 checksum of the installer package against its published values to ensure the installer package is not corrupted?

Do you have a Avast Software installed, like AntiVirus or Avast Internet Security?  If so you may need to completely uninstall Avast Software as this has been an issue of late for some Users.

Otherwise have a look at: Troubleshooting an MSI error during a VMware product or Tools installation (1031302)

Avira Antivir on Windows 8 also produces the same issue

Panda Free Antivirus also produces the very same issue. I've disabled all protections and stopped all its services and then I was able to install VMware Player 6.0.4 smoothly.
