Unable to start agent on HP-UX 11.23

Hi All,

I'm just starting to use HQ and I like it! 

I'm trying the HQ Enterprise 4.0. Installed the HQ server on Centos 5 and the agents on HP-UX 11.11 (PARISC) and on Windows 2003 servers.  I have downloaded and extracted the following tar ball of the agent - hyperic-hq-agent-4.0.2-939-hpux-11.tar.gz

I'm having a problem starting the agent on HP-UX 11.23 (Itanium/IA64) and throwing the following errors -

Unable to locate any of the following binaries:
  /opt/hyperic-hq-agent-4.0.2/wrapper/sbin/../../wrapper/sbin/wrapper-hpux-ia-32
  /opt/hyperic-hq-agent-4.0.2/wrapper/sbin/../../wrapper/sbin/wrapper-hpux-ia-64
  /opt/hyperic-hq-agent-4.0.2/wrapper/sbin/../../wrapper/sbin/wrapper


It seems like HQ doesn't suppor HP-UX 11i on IA64 yet.

Looking into the jre subdir - I could only see PARISC binaries

Has anyone encountered and resolve this problem yet?

    Welcome to Hyperic!!

    Fixed for the issue is available in our next release.This is issue is track with the Jira ticket:
    http://jira.hyperic.com/browse/HHQ-2387

    Please use no-wrapper script as a workaround .You can find the script :
    /opt/hyperic-hq-agent-4.0.2/bundles/agent-4.0.0/bin

    I'm also having a problem starting the agent using the no-wrapper script. Refer to the below error.

    I am trying to get the HP-UX 11.23 box to test your issue. In the meantime can you please check if your HQ_JAVA_HOME set correctly?

    I have tried both agent versions - 4.0.2 and 4.0.3  - and the issue is still the same.

    I have tried setting the HQ_JAVA_HOME to /opt/hyperic/hyperic-hq-agent-4.0.3/jre

    The agent was started sucessfully but it doesn't go back to the command prompt.

    See below.

    root@bsi04[/opt/hyperic/hyperic-hq-agent-4.0.3/bundles/agent-4.0.3-953/bin]# ./hq-agent-nowrapper.sh start
    Starting agent
    - Invoking agent
    - Agent thread running
    - Verifying if agent is running...
    - Agent is running
    Agent successfully started

    ### After the agent is started,  it doesn't go back to the prompt.  It just hang here.

    Hello Charlie ,

    It is good to know that you were able to start the agent successfully.I am not sure why it doesn't go back to the command prompt.

    Can you please Sign In to HQ and see if there is any data in Auto Discovery portlet.

    Even the HQ 4.1.0 still doesn't work on HP-UX 11.23 on IA 64.

    This applies to all the HQ 4.x versions.

    The problem I think is there is no proper wrapper for HP-UX IA 64.  Refer to the below messages when I tried starting the agent normally.

    If you start the agent without the wrapper, it won't go back to the prompt.  If I interrupt by control+C it will kill the agent.
