Hi there!
I'm new to this group and recently installed workstation 8 to build a virtual machine with windows 8.
Player 3 didn't work, but Workstation 8 worked well.
Now I do different tests with my software on different windows versions and now had to do this with workstation.
All went well ... until I started a java program to create a pdf file.
The desktop froze and looked like breaking to pieces ... lots of triangular pieces of the screen while a tiny screen was visible too.
This happened with different java versions (1.4.2 and 1.6) and I could see, that "java -version" worked within the command line.
But when "java -jar xyz.jar" tried to create a message box or other sort of dialogue element, the vm crashed.
So I had to go back to player 3.1 and all works well again ... but the windows 8 vm ...
Did anyone see this happen, too?
Best regards
Perotin
With Player 4, I can see some java problems, too.
While a small java program is running and displaying a progress bar, the screen shows the same ... but the program finishes and the resulting pdf document is opened by Adobe Reader.
Strange, but not that bad than with workstation 8.
This happens with JRE6 and JRE7.
Changing the display driver to the one before installing vmware Tools did not help either. This is even worse, because the display does not come back to normal after finishing java.
Without vmware Tools, this happens too, but screen is ok after java finishes.
Did anyone see this happen?
