Re: Error parsing the server "SERVER IP" "clients.xml" file ...

Hi there,

Read the following article

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/VMWare/Q_26251559.html

the windows update KB980773, if you have already installed it in your Windows XP then uninstall it thereafter you will be able to connect to vSphere client

Currently awaiting either from Microsoft or VMWare to fix the issue, but you can unistall the KB980773 security update as its affecting DotNet 3.5 and 2.0

Regards,

Nikhil

Re: Error parsing the server "SERVER IP" "clients.xml" file ...

My solution to this problem is not about what OS version or .NET you're running -- I simply re-install vSphere client and it seems to work fine.  For some reason, this happens to me a lot on many different ESXi servers -- seemingly randomly.  A simple re-install has -- so far -- been the golden solution to vSphere error: "Error parsing the server "SERVER IP" "clients.xml" file ..."

Re: Error parsing the server "SERVER IP" "clients.xml" file ...

Hi Nikhil,

Thanks your solution definetly work & I have documented it on my blog few days back. Further, the solution of uninstalling & reinstalling the client as

the other comment suggest did not work for me. Though I just came to know that VMware has released a KB for this & this issue does not affect newer vSphere clients. I have posted the KB link and a bit more on my following post for any one still have the same problem:

I hope this help some one, if it does please reward points.

There is a new VI client. I installed it and the parsing problem disappeared, even with 98077 still installed.

Re: Error parsing the server "SERVER IP" "clients.xml" file ...

Go to the vSphere updates page (should be here)

http://downloads.vmware.com/d/details/esx41/ZHcqYmRoaGViZHRAQA==#version_history

From there, you have  to click the Download button for Vsphere 4.1. After you log in and accept the eula, it will take you to the page with the different components. You can choose the vsphere client there. FWIW, this client works even for the VI3 environment.

I hope that helps.

Re: Error parsing the server "SERVER IP" "clients.xml" file ...

Hi misppc,

Although I would recommend you just use the lates VI Client as that resolve the problem. You still can find the update loction as per the following post it has even a snapshot of the add/remove programs that show the update.
