Isolating virtual environment

I am trying to create a virtual test lab that will include workstations, member servers and domain controllers. I need to isolate this lab from the rest of the network to avoid introducing domain controllers and such to our production network. Looking at the network adapter settings for the one VM workstation that I have created, the only option is " VM Network". Is there a way to configure the virtual machines where they would be isolated from our network?

Hello.

If you are working on a single ESX(i) host, you could create a vSwitch with no physical adapters assigned to it and use this for the isolated network. If you are working with multiple hosts, you could create a new vSwitch and assign a single physical nic that is connected to an isolated switch.

Good Luck!

Well, in an effort to accomplish my goal of isolating the virtual environment, I added a NIC to vswitch0 and removed the existing NIC....BAD idea ! Now the console can no long connect to the host server. Is there any way other than reinstalling to readd the original NIC or create another connection?
