VMkernal - vCenter

Hi,

Each of my ESX server has a fiber network interface card. But the server running vCenter doesn't have one.

I want to know if it's possible to make the VMkernel to use the fiber NIC which cannot be connected to vCenter.

Could you please explained what you mean by "which cannot be connected to vCenter"?

Actually, it does not matter what type of NIC (fiber, copper) you use, as long as vCenter and the ESX servers can "see" each other over the network (DNS resolution has to be configured correctly).

vCenter Server: Base-T NIC

ESX Servers: Base-T NIC and Fiber NIC.

I want to use Fiber NIC for vMotion. But the network of fiber nic is separated from Base-T network.

That's ok.

vCenter only needs access to the management network / Service Console network.

Just define a separate vSwitch for vMotion on each of the ESX servers and connect them to the fiber NIC's.
