guys, I have a couple of vm's installed: Windows 7, Windows 2003, and the mouse pointer when moved to the lower right hand corner start changing between the hand and the arrow; moreover if I try to click something in that are will not do anything, not even right click. I have vmware-tools installed.... has anyone seen this before? I added an extra entry in my vmware config file after installation of vmware because ctrlaltins will not give me the login screen, and I apply the patch during install of vmware because I had issues with vmon, other than that there isn't any mods to the installation
thanks
Hi,
i guess you are using a recent ubuntu linux to acces the vmware console.
This issue you are talking about is very usual in recent ubuntu accesing windows' vm from the web browser console.
If i'm right, you must define a variable to fix this problem.
You have to export this variable in the environment right after login such that it will be set before starting Firefox:
VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=yes
Normally i set this variable in the /etc/profile like this:
export VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=yes
Then i run in a text console:
source . ./etc/profile
Finally i run the firefox to access the vm's from the console and the issue should gone away

Hi,
ok do the same again, but instead VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=yes use VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=force
Remember to close and open firefox between changes.

i guess in the creation time, you didn't mark this discussion as question. Then it's not possible to award replies.
Finally you could install the vmware tools in the virtual ipcop firewall?
