Hi,

We have a 4 node cluster and one of the nodes has the following error:

unable to apply DRS resource settings on host <hostname> in <datacenter> reason, operation failed since another task is is progress.

From what I can see in the VI client, no other tasks are running.

Any help much appreciated.

try restarting the management agents on the ESX host in question
service vmware-vpxa restart

will this affect the VM running if I restart the agents i.e. will they vmotion?

No, but to be safe, if you have any startup/shutdown options enabled for your guests just disable them for a bit.

No you will be fine to do that (one caveat - unless you are still running 3.0.1)

restarted virtual center service on server. this resolved the issue.
