Can a 32 bit guest be operated in a 64 bit host virtual machine.

No. You want the guest and the VM to match.

You can however run 32 bit guests on a 64 bit host.

Thank you for the response Rick - but I am confused. The 1st line of the answer says they should match but the 2nd line gives an affirmative to my question.

What I wold like to do is run a 64 bit Ubuntu host installation and then run 2 guests - 64 bit Win 7 and 32bit Win XP.

Sorry to be so dense and I really appreciate the help.

Ignore Ricks first line. Yes you can run 32bit guests in 64 bit hosts
