Hi,

I'm told I'll be able to sit my first VI3 VCDX Administrator exam in a few weeks and although vSphere is out I'm happy to do the VI3 path now and do any upgrade next year rather than wait.

However, I want to use a project I've just finished which was a vSphere server consolidation project for my defence. Is this possible or does it need to be VI3 project?

Thanks
Peter

Yes you can use a vSphere defense, but know that if you're going to use vSphere ... you'll be questioned on vSphere.

A great resource on top of the blue print is Duncan Epping's (also VCDX certified) blog post on VCDX #1's tips/tricks about VCDX exam at: http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2009/10/01/vcdx-tips-from-vcdx-001-john-arrasjid/

Take a look at bullet point #51

a) vSphere designs have been accepted for the VCDX defense if they meet the criteria defined in the blueprints.
b) The differentiator between VCDX on VI3.x versus VCDX on vSphere 4.x is likely to be based on the test.
c) Note – for VCDX on vSphere 4 to work, the Enterprise test and the Design test must both be upgraded to vSphere 4. ETA TBD.
d) All aspects of a design are reviewed and validated. If you include vSphere features, you WILL be questions on them also.

The deisgn I submitted to the panel a week before VMworld was actually a vSphere design.
