Hello,

Well I am finally getting round to writing my test on Friday but have a
few last minute questions that I cannot find the answers for in the
book or online - Would it be possible for anyone on the board to help?

Which actions are NOT possible when a VM is powered on?

Which product does NOT allow the creation of VMs?

Which formulas defines the amount of virtual machine memory that will always be composed of disk pages?

What is Port 903 used for?

Which VC Service s used during GuestOS Customizations?

Thanks,

Wish me luck!

I'm sure someone will corect me if I'm wrong, but ports 902 / 903 are used for communication between an ESX /ESXi host and a vCenter server.

What's the options?

Which formulas defines the amount of virtual machine memory that will always be composed of disk pages?
Memory allocated – memory limit

What is Port 903 used for?
TCP 903 is used for communication between the VI Client and the hosting ESX

Which VC Service s used during GuestOS Customizations?
VMware Mount Service for VirtualCenter

Which product does NOT allow the creation of VMs?

I would go with VM Player.

Cheers

There are many things you cannot do with a powered-on VM, so it depends on the options you were given - more examples are changing the MAC address of the virtual NIC, removing hardware, changing the independent settings on a virtual disk......

VMware Player cannot create VMs. Port 903 is specifically used for the console viewer of a VM, directly between the Client and the ESX/ESXi host running the VM.

Scott, question for you where can one find this answer? I have looked through my VMware Infrastructure 3: Install and Configure Student Manual and unable to find this information anywhere in it? It has been hurting my head to find this answer anywhere in it! :0

To get a better understanding of how ESX manages memory, see pages 40-42 and 139-151 of the Resource Management Guide for VI3:

I hope Player isn't an option for the question about creating VMs, as just-released version 3 CAN!
