Hi ,

i have Vmware ESX server and in vmclient infracture and there multiple instances running . if right click on any instance , i see shutdown guest and restart guest. What is that guest? shutdown a instance with guest and shutdown with linux command are same?

can pls clear this out

If vmware tools are installed - shutdown guest and restart guest will cause the VM to shutdown and restart respectvely through the operating system whether it is Linux or windows - power off guest or reset guest does a hard power off or hard reset of the vm -
