my local dealer informed me that HP ProLiant blades from 460c G6 series are supported by VMware,
but HP ProLiant *WS*460c G6 ( like this one: http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/6918/460c01.png ) are not.
so, what is the problem with WS460c G6?
Because it's workstation, not server. BL460c G6 is supported.
But according to hardware spec I suppose ESX will run fine on it. The only possible problem - RAID controller without cache, it can affect performance.
thank you for your anwsers.
I consider using software iSCSI initiator to access the storage so there will be no performance hit due RAID controller.
but, then again I have to boot ESX/ESXi from some disk inside the blade, and I got to have RAID (SAS) controller supported by VMware to do that...
So, in that case, I can use dual-port 1Gbps non-iSCSI NIC for software iSCSI initiator.
Guess dual E5520 (quad-core each) will be able to handle maximum of 2Gbps iSCSI traffic.
No storage-intensive applications are planed, but we can peak at 2Gbps sometimes.
Thx a lot!
