I initially setup orchestrator as part of a test roll out and setup some workflows, now I've rolled out the real setup and would like to move the workflows I did in the original test setup over to my current server. Any ideas?

Now you get to see one of my favorite parts of Orchestrator!!!

  • On your dev server, open the Orchestrator Client
  • Click into packages
  • Create a new Package
  • Edit the package
  • Click on the "Workflows" tab in the right
  • Add all of the workflows you have created
    • All dependent workflows, actions, etc will be added automatically
  • Click through each of the other tabs in the right and make sure to add any additional resources that you've created
  • Save your package and close it

Now, you have two choices:

  1. Export the package and then import onto the production server
  2. Right click on the package and select "Synchronize"
    • When prompted, enter the production server IP or FQDN, username, and password

In either case above, you'll be provided with a summary screen that shows the elements that will be added to the production server (signified by a green arrow).

Enjoy!

You can then continue to use your test server to update/revise workflows, add additional resources to the package, etc... and when ready, simply repeat the process outlined above B-)

Just an addition to Burke information:

Configuration element are synchronized / exported. But not their values. The purposes of this is to be able to keep your configuration for production and dev even when synchronizing packages between element.

Take care to increment versions of workflows(, actions, etc.) you edit, otherwise (by default), the orchestrator will not update workflows and other elements when you import / synchronize packages...
