When I sat for the Enterprise exam there was a screen that indicated the version and update the test was based on. Does anyone know the version adn update the design exam is based on? Not that this is a huge deal but there are slight diffrenced in the updates for 3.5.

From the question that I seen it is based on the last U2-3-4 version.
But most of the question are simply independent by the U version.

I'd suggest to study using the U2 and later materials, but Andre is right in that a lot of questions are applicable to all U versions.

The design exam focuses on how VMware solutions must be deploy on a typical network environment so the update is not very important. You have to understand which are the considerations when you desing a VMware environment (think about storage, networking, disaster recovery...)

Refer to the exam blueprint : http://mylearn.vmware.com/lcms/mL_faq/2256/DesignExamBlueprint.pdf

Also, Duncan did a good post about how to prepare : http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2009/03/07/vcdx-design-exam-how-to-prepare/

Hi Jeff,

Agreed, however I got a few questions in were they stated: "...it is running VMware ESX 3.x" and the answer could be different if they stated that it was running native ESX 3.5 of higher.

I've BTW wrote a short blog about an important caveat in the Design Exam: Link

Cheers,

Hi Kenneth

You are right... I did the exam one year ago so I forgot about those questions.
