Aloha,

I am about to upgrade my test ESX/VCenter system. The VCenter database in on SQL2k. My question is - exactly what will I lose if I bail on the 2k database and start fresh on a 2k5 database on a different SQL server????

Mahalo,

Bill

it's a start over type deal. You will have a clean vCenter instance with nothing in it.

Here's a bit of a dated thread, but does give you a good example of what is stored in the DB

at a high level, yes that is it.

If you don't know, you will need dbo on both the VCMS and the MSDB as outlined in the KB below, and make sure you use the SQL Native Client for your ODBC connection.
