I would highly appreciate if the Vmware developers would put a bit more effort in audio support on Linux hosts. I found it disappointing that the size of the vmware-server package grew by almost 500% (from around 100Mb to 0.5 Gb), but still no noticable improvements on the audio side. OSS is stoneage and todays standard is ALSA - including full plugin support. Other virtualization solutions have even started supporting the Pulseaudio sound server.

It's free! Use it or not...
I don't understand, why one needs sound on servers.

Because we're using VMWare "Workstation" or "Player" on our desktops and would like sound.

Bypass ALSA, and go straight to PulseAudio please.

Actually for the Fedora Core 11 users I would just like a working sound in Fusion. The sound and other drivers stopped working some time ago and there has been no movement towards a working version since 2.03.
