Ever since the new 'developer forums' my email notifications are not working right. They seem to be ok for threads that I create, but when I reply to another user's thread I don't always get a notification. I am using a @yahoo email address.

Thanks
Chris

Seems that is not related only for 'developer forums'.
I loose several notification from different community posts and also for a private message.

Hey Chris. This problem has been on going in one way or another for almost a year. It seems to work somewhat for a month or so and then it will revert to being terrible. I doubt it will be fixed any time soon. Please see the following threads.

Hi All,

We have been working on this issue, and we plan to apply a patch from Jive on October 16. Here's the background:

  • - When we upgraded to v1.10, Jive had introduced a bug that caused some email notifications not to be sent. You all pointed that out in January of this year, and we rolled back the code containing the bug to a previous version that didn't have the bug. Then you all reported email notifications to be working again until recently.
  • - Since that time, Jive did an update to their watchmanager code, and that update is the patch we plan to apply on October 16. The watchmanager patch changes the way watches are updated in the caching layer -- in other words, the patch targets a possible cause of the error. But we have not been able to reproduce the problem in-house, so I cannot guarantee that this will fix the issue. Of course if this doesn't fix the issue, we'll continue to work on the problem.

I'll post again once this patch is live, and I'll ask people to report whether notifications are working or if they see any issues.

Regards, Robert

Hi All,

We deployed Jive's watchmanager patch yesterday, which Jive recommends as a possible solution to the problem we are seeing where users are not receiving all of the email notifications they subscribed to. As I mentioned in my previous post, I haven't been able to reproduce this problem on our development environment (although I've seen the problem on the production environment), so I can't claim with certainty it will fix the issue. But even if it doesn't fix the issue, it will rule out the watchmanager as the cause.

Therefore, I need your help: Please report back whether you are getting all email notifications or if you are missing any.

Thanks! - Robert

The problem was still present in some random notifications (but on yesterday I'm not sure).
Now, let's see with this deployment if something has changed ;)

That's great to hear! But if you see any other issues, please post here or send me a PM, and I'll look into it. Email notifications are a high priority, and aside from this issue, they have generally worked very smoothly. I'm dedicated to keeping it that way. Regards, Robert
