Windows 2003 needs a Hotfix for the Multi-to-Uni processor change.

Hotfix KB923425 will allow for a Windows 2003 server to allow the Uniprocessor HAL as an option during the Device Manager change. Previous to this, the scripts above work the same way but aren't really supported. This hotfix is supported.

Caveats:
2003 SP1 is required to run the Hotfix.
2003 SP2 includes the Hotfix. (So just upgrade to SP2)
i386(x86) and AMD64 are different fix files under the same KB number. So choose your platform file.

I suggest making a small .ISO with all the files included to bypass the "where did I put that hotfix file" problem or more importantly, to fix the VM with all patches and not have the network up.

If Microsofts site does not have the Hotfix available you may need your Premier Support rep to send the file to you.

SandyB mentioned this in a previous reply above. I missed it originally. Thanks Sandy.

Most of my P2V work now needs this fix to keep ESX CPU cycles down.

Many, many thanks, Mike!

I struggled with this problem for quite a while. Much appreciated!
