I have mistakenly set a wrong time zone on one of my ESX. So I changed the entry in /etc/sysconfig/clock to ZONE="Europe/Berlin" (as it is on my other ESX) but even after a reboot the machine does not show the correct time.

How can I change the time zone?

Do yo have NTP running on your ESX servers? Have you reset the HWclock?

Well, the time itself is correct (date -u), it is simply showing the wrong time zone.

I have /usr/sbin/ntpdate running every hour to get the time from a Linux machine on both ESX servers. Hardware clock is on local time.

Thanks Eddy. That was really helpful.

/etc/localtime is not a symbolic link on ESX. I finally resolved this issue by copying that file from the ESX with the correct time info.
