VMware vExpert Scott Lowe has sent me a copy of his just released vSphere book to give away at the September WI-VMUG meeting. Mastering VMware vSphere 4 looks to be an outstanding vSphere guide that is packed with over 600 pages of great content.

For those of you who are not familar with Scott and his contributions to the Virtualization Community, he is someone you need to know. Here is a list of some of Scott's contributions:

  • Contributing author at TechTarget with technical tips and articles for both SearchServerVirtualization.com as well as SearchVMware.com.

  • Scott is on the panel for VMworld Session TA2259 "Ask the Experts - Virtualization Design" along with Tom Howarth, Chad Sakac, Duncan Epping and Rick Sherer. This session is being held Thursday @ 1pm and 4:30pm.

This looks to be a great book, if you don't win this one be sure to get your own copy. My copy is already in route from Amazon and should be waiting for me when I get back from VMworld.

Here's an update from Steve at ProHealth Care re: parking for tomorrow's meeting. I have attached the parking location screenshot he mentions:

It's bound to get too tight in our lot alone. Can you let registered attendees know (email, Twitter, Community VMUG Site, etc.) that there's also a lot directly across the street from us to the South, and a lot to the West in the building behind ProHealth that they can park in, as well as . You can park on the street in front of the ProHealth Care parking lot, but if you go down the street further there are "no parking" signs. I'd encourage everyone to stay off the street if possible. There's plenty of room in all the lots combined.
Here's a screenshot of all the lots to use. There's a walking path they can take from the lot to our West that I've highlighted as well. You come into the ProHealth building on the lower level right where the VMUG is. I don't know how many channels you have to get this out, but I'd like to make everyone as aware as possible. Don't want anyone to try a risky spot on the street and get a ticket when there's plenty of lot space around us. If there's an easy way to publish this screen shot somewhere that'd be great too.

Had a pretty good meeting with 95 people showing up. However that was only 54% of the 175 registered and way below the typical 72% turnout. A few technical glitches and a little lack of time management by me left us without any time for an open discussion among the members at the end. Also that coupled with having to get back to the office meant we had to skip Bob Plankers' VMworld Review.

Check the documents section of the Wisconsin Area Vmware User Group community site for the presentation content from Dean Flaming (VMware ThinApp) and Stephen Spellicy (EMC). I have received Stephen's presentation and hope to have it uploaded soon.

Please be sure to respond to any post-meeting survey from VMware and feel free to comment here on the meeting. Comments, suggestions, criticism's, ideas, ect... are all welcome.

Thanks to all who made it to the meeting and for those who didn't, I hope to see you at an upcoming meeting.
