Hi;

I firt time tried to convert a PC to VPC with Converter 4. Convertion finished without any error. But when I power on the virtual machine, i see only black screen and a small cursor on the left right on the screen.

Is there any succestion about this problem?

itanriverdi,

Welcome to the VMware Community Forums.

More than likely the virtual machine was created as an IDE guest. You can try to force the virtual machine over to SCSI, or reconvert and specify SCSI as the controller type in step 3 of the wizard.

Can you provide a brief outline of the conversion settings?

1 - Source OS, Service pack level, and storage type

2 - destination type (esx, workstation, etc), and the version of this (3.5, 6.0.x, etc)

3 - Any options that were chosen during step 3 of the wizard

Thank you for your interest.

I solved my problem by chosen Virtual machine Version 4 instead 7 in step 2 of wizard.

The new virtual machine powered up and working.

kind regards.

Assuming you still using ESX 3.5 instead of vSphere 4.0 because with new conversion and upgrade the virtual machine hardware level is 7. Great to know too!
