We are tesing our virtual environment and we have discovered that our web sites are very slow. Recenly we have changed our method for creating websites in that we now seperate our databases from the actual website onto a mysql db server. A brief overview of my network is as follows

ESXi Host in DMZ - Guest web server (Ubuntu-Apache) "call it DMZ-WEB01"

ESXi
Host in LAN - Guest database server
(Ubuntu-MySQL) "call it SRV-DB01"

Firewall is set to allow (any/any) from LAN>DMZ but from DMZ>LAN is restricted.

Access
Rules from DMZ-WEB01 to SRV-DB01 to allow MySQL ports and ICMP (working fine)

When I ping from DMZ-WEB01 to SRV-DB01 via DNS name it is kind of slow compared to Pinging
IP…

DNS Server in DMZ and also in LAN

access to the site on both
internal network and externally are very slow. (20+ seconds
or more to main page and between pages).

So what do I need to look at? Server Performance is very good according to console in ESX... RESOURCES ABOUND!!!

I would appreciate any of you VMware or MySQL Guru's advice... I have looked at everything I know to.
