View Connection Server Timeout Settings Kicking active users out! posted: Jun 15, 2009 9:59 AM

Hi there VMWare junkies ;)

I have my remote access VMWare View 3.0 solution up and running now for a few weeks. I have been trying to get the non-active users booted out though... so I have been adjusting settings in View Connection Server to time them out... the problem is... active users are being forced out as well.

What my goal is... if a user has not been active in the last 10 minutes, it should log them off their session and make the VDI accessible to someone else... presently it either locks their desktop when the screen saver kicks in, or times out their session but doesn't release the Virtual PC for someone else to access. It also will timeout a user who is actively using the mouse and keyboard to access a virtual PC after the timeframe expires, forcing them off... it does give them the 5 minute warning, but you can't override it by being active or anything... you are just disconnected.

Anyone experience this before? Have any ideas what the setting might be that is causing this?

Thanks in advance,

Ken

This can be taking care of by modifying the Terminal Services group policy settings for the workstations.

You can do this through Active Directory GPO too.

Open a GPO and navigate to Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Terminal Services/Sessions

Check out the settings and see what works best for you..

I think what you are looking for is:

"Set a time limit for active but idle Terminal Services Sessions"

"Set a time limit for disconnected Terminal Services Sessions"

Hope this helps
