Hi All,

I am using ESX 3.5 U4 with NAS and iSCSI storage

When i actually did cold migration for a VM from NAS to iSCSI, few files went misisng and VC dint even showed any error.

As we can see, flat files and snapshot files are missing.

Now originally this VM was been created using VMware convertor on a workstation VM. So i thought to recreate the parent disk. I did that and moved the files as below

-rw------- 1 root root 10G Jun 12 09:36 achilles1_1-flat.vmdk
-rw------- 1 root root 549 Jun 12 09:36 achilles1_1.vmdk
-rw------- 1 root root 10G Jun 12 09:46 achilles1-flat.vmdk
-rw------- 1 root root 547 Jun 12 09:36 achilles1.vmdk

Then i changed the CID's in vmdk's in snapshot 2 to point to parent file.

Then i did vmkfstools -i achilles1_1-000003.vmdk achillestest.vmdk and got an error "The parent virtual disk has been modified since the child was created (18)"

So i tried to change the timestamp of files manually, but no luck.

When i tried to poweron the same VM using VC, it gave me an error . " A general system error has occured: Internal error"

Anyone has any suggestions to recover the data from the snapshot files.....
