ASUS ZCR SAS RAID 8300XLP ESXi Support

I have a client running 8 sas drives on an asus DSBV-DX/SAS motherboard with the addin card ZCR SAS RAID 8300XLP. Currently they are running server 2008 as a host OS with vmware server 2.0. We want to move them to ESXi for obvious performance improvements. I have read varying reports that this card is some what supported and in one instance that it is working in ESX. What are our options.. if ESXi cannot be made to support this raid controller, a) what is our cheapest and best replacement card, or b) is there a linux os that has better performace as a vmware 2.0 host????

we need raid 10 capabilities.

I Just wanted to post that we successfully tested and have an operational ESXi server on this RAID controller!

Hi thebover,

Would you please share how you made ZCR SAS RAID 8300XLP support in ESXi? I wish to realize ESX on my Server with the RAID card now.

LOL honestly we just installed esxi on the server. It detected the RAID and has been working flawlessly for the past few months!

no special tweaks required.

Thanks! ESX4/ESXi4 has supported 8300xlp now. So, I installed ESX4 on my Lenovo R520 G6, and worked well.
