Under VMs running Suse 8.1 and 9.x i can see, that DHCP has assigned IP-adresses to a VM, e.g. 192.168.178.7 and a ping goes through.

However, the IP adresses/DNS names do not appear in the VMs overview of vSphere client and a try for an online system update from yast to www.suse.com yields

"cannot connect to www.suse.de. Check your connection"

General setting: After the public IP there is on DHCP-Router in a 192.168.0.0 net, who gives my DCHP router an IP. My DHCP-router operates the 192.168.178.0 network.

Desktops incl. VMs in the 192.168.178.0 network can browse the internet well, but the VMs from ESXi 4.0 in the same network do not get a connection (appart from ping).

Are there any hints?

Many thanks in advance...

Yours Stressed VMWareUser

What are the results if you try to traceroute from inside the VM to www.suse.com? Do you have any http proxy servers that you need to configure inside the VMs?
