Help! Virtual PC 2007 x64 ( v6.0.156.0 ) causes VMware Workstation 6.5.2 - Build 156735 to fail posted: Apr 30, 2009 3:02 AM

I have multiple solutions installed on my Vista 64bit Business machine.

VMware virtual machine failed to start:
1. I have a running virtual machine on Virtual PC 6.0.156.0. None running on VMware workstation.
2. Then i start up 1 VMware virtual machine.
3. VMware workstation prompted me with this error. ( Please see the attached pictures. )


This problem happens in this manner too:
1. I have a running vmware virtual machine.
2. I turn on 1 instance of virtual machine from Virtual PC
3. The vmware instance stopped running with the same error above.

Is this a Microsoft Virtual PC issue or VMware workstation's?

Do you get the same problem if you start the VM's in reverse order?

1.Start the VPC VM
2. Start the VMware VM

Does this cause the same problem ?

Nope. The reverse order you suggested is the 1st failing condition i have. See the steps at the 1st section.

VMware virtual machines start up ok when no Virtual PC machines are running.

I did a bit of googling and found that it's not a problem you are the only one to have.
It seems that for some wierd reason VMware and VPC won't run side by side on the same PC - at the same time.

have you tried to run the support script and create a support case with VMware as stated in the first messagebox?

I'm not sure that this will ever be possible... :-(
