As part of VIMA for Windows x86 initiative, I am in the process of developing a power management solution based on the APCUPSD Windows binary. The application will control the shutdown and recovery of an ESXi (pre U4) host and its guests based on the state of a USB APC battery. It can be installed on a virtual machine along with a Lantronix UBOX USB-over-Ethernet device or on a stand-alone PC.

Updates:
06/21/09
  • Recovery Helper service fully functional. Recovery0.ps1 script connects USB on PC startup.

05/11/09
  • apcupsd-vim Recovery Helper service included. This service will process recoveryX.ps1 scripts on service start-up.

04/24/09
  • Support for UBOX device which allows connecting / disconnecting / enumerating devices from scripts
  • Enumerating device manager devices and updating drivers for specific devices from script

STILL TODO:
  • Populate scripts to be functional
