NTFS Compress Virtual Machine on host - performance gain? posted: Apr 23, 2009 4:49 AM

Someone mentioned that they actually got a performance GAIN by NTFS compressing the folder that the virtual machine files are in (vmdk, vmx, etc.) on the host.

Has anyone tried this?

NEVER use compressed NTFS to store vmdks !

It may work for a while and then one day under heavy load - ... bang !
