Hi,
As of ESX/ESXi Update 4 this motherboard is supported out the box.
Regards,
Darren
Does that include the NIC?
Hi,
Yes. Everything working no tweaking/patching required.

Darren

Hi,
Glad I could help. I searched for a LONG time for a solution for this board and decided to "give back" after solving my issues.
I will be moving on to my Intel DG45ID next. It should also be supported out the box with Update 4.
Regards,
Darren
Hi I just installed this same board with a 500GB sata drive and it is giving me an : unable to find device to install vmware....... error. I'm tried changing drive configs in the bios also and nothing works. please help if you can. Im using ESXi 3.5 update 4
Take a look at these - I'd start with the last link.
http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/Hardware_support.php
http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/find_PCI_ID.php
http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/ESXi_install_to_IDE_drive/ESXi_install_to_IDE_drive.php
Thanks a lot, I will try all of these when i get home and let you know the results. I recall trying the last link to no avail. Would i need to set the sata setting in the bios to IDE to make this work?
In same cases ESXi will load the IDE driver for the SATA controller even if it is not IDE / legacy mode. It depends on the specific controller that you have on the MB.
Hi,
Can't remember the exact setting (and my box is running) so I cannot get into the BIOS. But you definitely want it set to SATA/AHCI/RAID whichever of those options is supported.

Darren
lspci gives shows me 00:31.02 Mass Storage controller: Intel Corporate
The same is shown for 00:31:05 and 03:00:00.
fdisk -l shows nothing..
I can tell that my onboard NIC was discovered as vmnic0 though,
The install wont work with update 3 or 4
Any help would be apreciated.
Hi,
Can you send me the output of lspci -m and lspci -n
lspci -m
00:1f.2 "Class 0106" "Intel Corporation" "82801HB (ICH8) 4 port SATA AHCI Controller" -r02 -p01 "Intel Corporation" "d701"
lspci -n
00:1f.2 Class 0106: 8086:2824 (rev 02)
Regards,
Darren
lspci -v gives
00:31.05 IDE interface Mass storage controller: Intel Corporation
Class 0101: 8086:2368
00:31.02 IDE interface Mass storage controller: Intel Corporation
Class 0101: 8086:2820
03:00.00 IDE interface Mass storage controller:
Class 0101: 197b:2368
lspci -n just spits out a bunch of numbers with the class....the only words are for vmnic0
lspci -m doesnt work for me.
The output is a lot larger but im just typing the ones related to the storage controller
Hi,
Have you checked your BIOS to make sure it is set to AHCI, SATA or RAID?
It really looks like you are running the SATA drive in IDE compatibility mode.
Regards,
Darren
Ive tried both ways and get the same error. I'm Changing it back again to ACHI and the output of lspci -v is the same. I dont understand this. I thought this board would work.
Hi,
Only thing I can think of is the BIOS needs updating. Did you update to the latest?
Regards,
Darren
What do you get for lpsci -p? Is the ESX or ESXi that you're trying?
