Time Zone Settings when using NTP? posted: Mar 31, 2009 8:37 AM

I several NTP servers defined and was wondering how my time zones should be configured on my ESX servers. Should UTC be set to true or false in the "/etc/sysconfig/clock" file? Currently my time zone information is set to the following:

ZONE=America/New_York

UTC=True

ARC=False

Does it matter whether UTC is set to True or False considering that I am pulling time from an NTP server? When searching I have been getting some conflicting information.

The following Vmware KB indicates the following settings (http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1436)

ZONE="US/Pacific" (of course your TZ may vary)
UTC=false
ARC=false

No indication in the KB that it matters but it is how Vmaware indicates it should be set.
