We are experiencing slowdowns on a server that we recently virtualized. Its a database server and the SAS jobs are running longer than usual. the only difference between this one and several others that have almost the same config is that this once has a D drive VMDK that is 1.5TB.
Other than this machine the largest VMDK we have anywhere else is under 500GB and we have never had issues.
Are there known issues with 500GB+ or 1TB+ VMDK's? anyone ever see anything like this? suggestions?
We are running ESX3.5u3 connected to an HP EVA6000.
TIA -Scott
AFAIK there aren't any know issues. Might want to check with ESXTOP what's actually the problem when running this job.

What is the raid configuration and number of spindles did you give that LUN?

we have the VMDK on a RAID5 Lun. The Lun is 1.5TB (correction to the above the VMDK is only 1.4TB, no snaps) and rund on a disk group of 42 10K 300GB FC drives.
We have the rest of our virtual datacenter running on the same disk group and no other systems are experiencing issues.
What do you think?
thanks all. I am digging deeper into the performaceand testing disks with iometer, but still not finding anything promising. 😐
